Theyre a long way from the White House.
But here in the halls of the Marriott Marquis, covered in Barack Obamas old logo of a rising sun for the inaugural summit of his namesake foundation, Democrats were upbeat. Organizing matters! they gushed. Internationalism was cool. There was a morning meditation and yoga session, and an evening community concert with Chance the Rapper and The National. This whole summation reminds me of the Jim Jones, here, drink the kool-aid mentality, it sickens me. Turns my stomach. Or maybe that’s just the egg, cheese and jalapeno burrito I ate for lunch.
