The premiere of Laura Ingrahams Fox News Channel show The Ingraham Angle at 10 PM last night was tops among cable news shows in the time slot, snagging 3.3 million total viewers and 622,000 in the news demo.
Also in the hour, MSNBCs Last Word with Lawrence ODonnell delivered 2.6M viewers and 612K news demo viewers. CNN Tonight clocked 1.34M viewers and 506K news demo viewers.
Compared to Fox News 10 PM average in 2017 to date, The Ingraham Angles launch jumped 29% in overall audience and 10% in the news demo.
Ingrahams debut also made headlines with her John Kelly interview. The White House Chief of Staff was the subject of much TV news talk today after he declined to apologize for calling Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson an empty barrel, seemed to confirm President Donald Trump is under investigation in Rob Muellers probe, and explained to Ingrahams audience that an inability to reach a compromise led to the Civil War, calling Gen. Robert E. Lee a man of honor.
The Lee issue came up during a conversation about the moving of a plaque in memory of the general in a historic church in Alexandria, VA. Ingraham blasted the church for the decision.
I am thoroughly enjoying Laura Ingraham's Fox hour. It's on a bit late for me, so I will watch it via youtube the next morning, almost commercial free.
The show is probably the best on Fox, which I think has turned the corner, and is again giving us adult programming that is very entertaining and informative, since they swept clean BOR and Megyn Kelly.
You have Tucker Carlson, Hannity and Laura and after Laura a newcomer Shannon Bream.
TONIGHT LAURA WILL INTERVIEW PRESIDENT TRUMP!!!!
If you missed the opening show on the 31st, I urge you to watch it via youtube, and then catch up on the shows on Tuesday and Wednesday. Last night she had a great interview with Clarence Thomas.
WHAT STRIKES ME ABOVE ALL ELSE, IS HOW MUCH THERE IS TO LAURA'S APPROACH TO THE NEWS AND ISSUES. MEGYN KELLY IN COMPARISON IS AN EXTREME LIGHTWEIGHT.
I am quite sure that Kelly is envious of the night time line up she left. Even Shannon Bream is heads above her.
Great job, Laura!!! We here at FR are very very proud of you, and happy that you will now reach an even wider audience.
Hannity is FOX ratings chief
I think she has the best show.
always liked Laura...liked her radio show and like her TV show...her interview with Clarence Thomas last night was superb...
I like her better on radio.
Her interview last night of Justice Thomas was great, Ive thorougly enjoyed watching her
Her ratings should soar now.
Both Laura and Hannity are doing a great job. I would also like to mention Judge Jeanine Pirro on Saturday evening, not a good spot, but she is great.
Do you have a youtube link for us?
You are so right nikos. Laura brings a new level of seriousness, depth and knowledge. Her delivery is much more steady and mature. I’m loving her show. Hannity serves the purpose of being the dog with a bone, but sometimes there’s just too much hype.
Laura looks and sounds like she’s a FReeper.
Thank you!
2.6 million people watch Lawrence O’Donnell?
You’re seeing a lady who has honed her interview and debating skills to perfection. And Meygn Kelly get 25 million or some ungodly figure for what? I mean it’s like Laura is the adult in the room, and Kelly is this high school freak with a microphone who wants to be a reporter when she grows up.
Sorry, but can’t help comparing Laura to Kelly when I watch The Angle. I’m sure Kelly is seething with jealousy, because is the kind of show she should aspire too, but in reality would never be able to pull it off.
Laura, is speaking the truth. She doesn’t care about bringing in viewers from the left, or maybe even the eGOP right. She’s just very good at talking and giving us a perspective of what is the reality of things going on.
TONIGHT SHE INTERVIEWS OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT.
It’s a busy busy schedule...I think the radio show suffered during the post-election run-up to the show because of all the talking and negotiating for Fox and for a potential White House communications director job with Trump. There were many ‘best of’ shows and guest hosts and those annoying situations where she would be late or leave early.
Her choices of guest host are questionable at best. Most of them sound like they’re under sedation or do the annoying filler trick of reciting the phone number over and over again. She dotes on Saint Raymond Arroyo as a sidekick but I call him ‘Handbrake’ because he slows the show down and when he is the exclusive host I can’t bear it.
‘Don in Iowa you wanted to say what?’
Ugh.
Three young kids at home, a new big house that needs renovation, a juicy contract and the obvious advantage of reaching an audience via an established TV station versus the drudgery of cobbling together affiliates. Her affiliate lineup is an absolute lottery with many (most?) of them only carrying a portion of the show and many more time-shifting it. I don’t know what the radio contract terms are but perhaps she may decide it’s too exhausting to do both even though Hannity manages it.
Her original show was positively acidic in its contempt for lefties - and I loved it, especially the skewering of the gasbag Obamas and ‘Mother Robinson.’ Unfortunately, someone must have told her to ease up on the mockery as a condition of her most recent contract (I believe she changed syndicators as well).
The other danger and most likely outcome (already happening) is that the radio show will simply become a promo vehicle for the TV show with sound from TV dominating the hour (also already happening).
Hannity talks too long at the beggining of his show rehashing the news. His show has broken big stories though. It needs a slight format change. But the good news is that the fox primetime lineup is more conservative than ever.
her book “shut up and sing” was a revelation for me....should be essential reading for anyone just turning 21 years old..
he gotta quit interrupting his guest rattling off talking points...man..he had John Lott jr on right after the Vegas shooting..the guys brilliant and Hannity hardly let him say a word.
