My dad used to let us ride on the running boards of a car he had, going down Lemoyne Ave in Biloxi. This was the 70s. No one ever stopped him or pulled him over, or, God forbid, threatened to turn him in to child protective services. We loved it.
And I know exactly about the relationship between a longtime, esteemed black employee of a white family. I saw it a lot in my early years when in Vicksburg, with my daddys family. There was a real relationship in many cases beyond just employer/ employee.
I agree. They probably need to add parenting classes to her sentence.
