Reminds me a bit of the Pistons basketball nickname.

Originally they were the Ft. Wayne Zollner Pistons. Then was shortened to Pistons. Then eventually they moved from Ft. Wayne to Detroit, and have been the Detroit Pistons ever since.

Wow, I didn’t know that. I always figured they were named the ‘Pistons’ because Detroit is the city that makes automobiles. Motors have pistons ya’ know?
