I can’t watch a movie now, without seeing the abuse behind the scenes. As enjoyable as it is to see pretty young women on the screen, I don’t enjoy providing the money that runs the machine that abuses them.
It is even worse with child actors. They look bright and happy and innocent, and the machine that their parents feed them into is anything but.
You could lie to yourself, until recently. But it is impossible to do so anymore. If you see somebody on the screen, it is likely that they have been victimized by some hoary old man, and submitted as the price to be paid for success.
I just don’t want to have anything to do with that.
However I do not see the adults who prostituted themselves for Hollywood success as victims.
Maybe victims of their own stupidity or moral depravity. But they knew what they were doing and made the bargain.
Maybe it was worth it to them if they got what they wanted, but they are in no position to preach morality to anyone.
Many of us have known for a long time that the pretensions of some kind of moral high ground, coming from Hollywood (of all places), are as hollow, false, hypocritical, and depraved as anything coming from that moral cesspool--maybe even more. It is particularly odious when these people get involved in politics.
The children are another matter altogether.
Oh please
Good lord

Lets hope its getting better. I was just on the location set of a current tv show and the 9 year old girl actress had her mother NEXT TO HER EVERY SECOND. She was a sweet well rounded child in real life. No parent should allow their actor child to be away from them for 1second period. This should be part of child labor laws NOW. NO GUARDIANS. NO TEACHERS (even when being taught, parent must be present). An actual parent present every second of work or wait on set.
