I fell in love with her in "Picnic" when I saw her, I think it was 1956. I checked on her bio recently, and apparently she left H'wood while she was still at the top, and never went back.
From this story (click here)> about her romance with Sammy Davis, Jr., we read:
"Novak even managed to evade Cohns casting couchconsidered the most notorious in Hollywood."
Apparently, she has lived out her dream of being an artist rather than as a movie idol.
Kim Novak, her art (click here)
Bravo. I turn 81 in a week, and she's still alive, and only a little older. I hope she never had to earn her living with round heels.
You have problems with comprehension apparently.
I think REAL rapists should be hanged by the neck until dead.
I also think some of these women are vile creatures who protected a sexual predator to get what they wanted while simultaneously framing innocent men as predators simply because they disagreed with their politics.
I have zero sympathy for people who try to destroy the lives of innocent men and I have zero sympathy for sexual predators....are you incapable of doing two things at once?
I grew up in Hollywood and will answer your question. YES. There are women who would gladly give BJs for movie roles. A few are even worth casting, like Marilyn Monroe.
Many girls are molested and oversexed and have been having unwanted sex since childhood. They may feel very unloved and unwanted and have a lacuna in their souls driving them toward the limelight (much like Barack Obama). Whats one more BJ, if it gets me a part in this film?
In other words, many of these women are “Little Hillarys” who are happy to enable a sexual predator as long as they are getting what they want.
IMO they should feel some amount of guilt for the victims who followed.
I agree with you. For every actress with actual talent, there are dozens of equally pretty girls who don’t have what it takes, but who have big enough egos to think they could be stars if they only got a chance. A man with the power to cast them in bit parts could get laid all he wanted, without having to jeopardize a movie’s success.
Always nice to see you, Trish.
How’s the foliage in your area?
Thanks. Cant change the past. I have to live with that regret and I am ready now to fight him if I get the chance. There are still some attorneys pursuing civilly. My parents can no longer be hurt by knowing what happened to me so another reason to stay quiet is now gone.
My only hope is that before Weinstein gets what’s coming to him that he takes Hollywood/Washington down with him.
How old is he now?
This can be said, though, of every profession. People don’t speak up at insurance companies and accountant companies when the boss is a bad guy. Pols don’t out other pols who lie, cheat and steal. Why? Because most people want to keep their jobs. Because most people have to keep their jobs in order to get food on the table for their families. In fact, it’s the human condition.
And just because it didn’t make it into the newspapers doesn’t mean that actresses were not speaking up. I’m sure their managers and agents got an earful.
Seems like this thread has stirred up a hornets’ nest...did I miss the part where someone said they support Weinstein?
Given the chance most of us evil ole’ Freeper men would gladly give him a Lucille up side his fat skull.
Oh, it’s very pretty at the moment. The few maple trees look gorgeous.
Late 60s I believe.
"Are" vs. "Pressured to Become" ?
And some, though pressured, will resist; others will forestall the pressuring by using their sexuality for a time, to gain non-merit-based advantage.
And you're apparently leaving out the Cheese Pizza factor, and the number of male homosexuals doing the same thing to male actors (cf Weird Al's song 'Which Backstreet Boy is Gay?")
He’s not too old, then. It’s a tough decision, regardless.
The difference I think is that Hollywood / TV / Stage Acting, is done not to actually fool the audience so that the actor can get away with whatever fame or access they'd receive if they really were Bank President, Policeman, Jedi Knight, or what have you, but so that the person watching can be better entertained by the tale portrayed.
The casting couch reminds one of the seamy underside and destroys the entertainment value (in addition to the people trampled and slimed into chemical dependency to deal with the aftermath).
