"He was credited with serving more than four years in Cook County Jail while awaiting trial and later released on parole in October 2016."

This is either the definition of "not a speedy trial" or just bad writing. Did it really take four years in jail before he had his trial?

If he waited four years for a trial it would be because his attorney waived his right to a speedy trial with the agreement of Tariq.

convicted of second-degree murder in 2013 and sentenced to 18 years in prison

Either way, it's crazy. "Tariq" shouldn't have been out on the streets. Marc Raboteaux, a second man charged in the brawl, could be released on his own recognizance pending trial. According to police, Raboteaux, 31, punched multiple people in their faces and bodies during the fight.

This guy is out on the streets or will be out when the doctor releases him.

What's with judges these days?
