We have military and ex military people here. So will you tell me why we even bother to send troops to Niger? Drop bombs on ISIS there. Not like we could “bomb it back to the stone age” they are still there. It won’t matter.

Ever hear of Eisenhower's warning to beware the military/industrial complex? This is a prime example.
Troops are in Africa for the same reason we sent them to Vietnam - to stop "undesireables" (i.e. communists) - only this time it's ISIS terrorists.
It's all BS.

One report I read was that Obama would not send troops to Nigeria, and instead sent them to Niger, to help train their military to fight against Boko Haram (in Nigeria).
