If Im reading the graphic correctly, please consider the following.
Since the biggest hurricane of 2017 so far, Hurricane IRMA, shows as the 7th largest hurricane, significantly smaller in diameter than Typhoon Tip, I dont see politically correct global warming at work.
Corrections, insights welcome.

Hurricane size and intensity are not directly related.
Hurricane Camille and Cyclone Tracy (Cat 5 and Cat 3 respectively) were both small but powerful storms that did massive damage in the areas they did hit.
