Punk wasn’t punk by 1979

Thank you. Punk stopped being Punk soon after the mainstream rock mags began reporting on it.

By then, the post punk of Gang of Four, Shrapnel, Bad Brains, et al was flourishing on both sides of the pond. Dang, those were good years for music.

By 79 a lot of the punk bands started adapting Jamaican reggae and ska into their music.
