I used to play goalie (hockey) for many years, and you have to have a thick skin, because it seems to be common these days for a player who scores a goal to get into a goalie’s face as a matter of course. I tried to get used to it, but if an individual was particularly odious in this respect, I wasn’t averse to “gently” retaliating with my stick to their legs when the ref wasn’t looking.
I just don’t like it. I don’t have a problem with people being happy and such, but the taunting and jawing detracts at all levels, I think.
Good leadership can minimize this.
I played organized Football for 10 years.
During that time I had a few Coaches that had a sadistic side, but none were as stupid as the Coach in the article.
This isn’t about being a snowflake, it’s about being a decent human being.
Attacking a kid for his Mom’s decisions is zhitty.
My personal opinion is that any Coach who would tell his team to do something this crappy is compensating for certain “shortcomings” in his life.
