Under 50 vs over 50. Testosterone levels tend to plummet. My guess is, some interaction going on there.

Probably something to do with elevated antibodies during pregnancies lingering in the blood, and these antibodies then causing destruction in the male body.

Rh factor acting on adult males? I didn’t read the article. I’ll check back later.

The story is reasonably good about pointing out the limitations of this research. Which I find nice, for a change.

Still, it does cast some doubt that blood type alone may be sufficient to determine compatibility. Certainly an avenue worth following.

Except in California, where wrong”pronouns” are considered more dangerous than HIV blood donors.

As a man, I’m OK with it as long as I don’t start crying at weddings.

Seems like a bad idea to take blood from Anything that bleeds 7 days out of every month and doesn’t die.

Well I just read a story about gays wanting to donate blood even if they have aids as it is theie right. Maybe the feminists should start a similar campaign.

Wait then does it have the same affect if a trans women donated the blood? If not, why that proves trans women are not really women. It is scientific, don't you know.

“the researchers speculated that changes that occur in a woman’s immune system during pregnancy could play a role.”

What changes?

Interesting. Wish they could have presented some proof of what the changes are.

This has to do with HLA antibodies. Women who have children are exposed to HLA antigens from the father that were passed along to the child. These antigens stimulate the production of antibodies in the mother. These antibodies are not detected in routine blood donor screening and could cause problems for the recipient. Why males and not females? Because the females have developed immune tolerance from pregnancy. This is a matter of statistics.
HLA = human leukocyte antigen = the basic immune response to foreign antigens.

What if the female donor self-identifies as male?

Ok guys, take your pick.

Blood from a straight woman who's had babies?
Blood from a queer guy who's... well... who knows?

Elective surgery: donate your own blood before your surgery.

Ba-da-bing. Easy process.
