An income requires an outgo.
The outgo already comes up a bigly bit short, so continued ideals in that direction are a bit flawed.

I beg to differ.

Yeah, this is the person who tells me that everyone deserves the same income:

Seems to me a Ph.D. economist should have been on the "expert" panel. The sad thing is a lot of people will believe the bullcrap that comes out of this.

When more and more gray and white collar occupatons are replaced by automation and AI, this will become an issue. I have no solutions, but the risk of pretty much EVERYONE being out of work is very real. and in just the next few decades (if not sooner).

I had an uncle from Estonia who fled the Soviet takeover at the age of ten. He was the only member of his family to survive. His family's crime was owning a very productive farm. For that they were all rounded up into the barn and shot. The crops and livestock were taken.
The only way he could listen to people like this was with a tall pint glass of vodka. Their numbers have exponentially increased since he died. I am glad he is being spared the horrors and night panic attacks.

“Freedom is not empowerment. Empowerment is what the Serbs have in Bosnia. Anybody can grab a gun and be empowered. It’s not entitlement. An entitlement is what people on welfare get, and how free are they? It’s not an endlessly expanding list of rights the “right” to education, the “right” to food and housing. That’s not freedom, that’s dependency. Those aren’t rights, those are the rations of slavery hay and a barn for human cattle.”

I grew up in a town in the '50s where a "universal basic income" was available. It was in northern Minnesota in a medium sized town surrounded by three Indian reservations. In order to receive this "universal basic income", one simply had to demonstrate at least 1/8 Indian blood (one great grandparent), and to live on one of the reservations. The "universal basic income" was paid by the federal government through the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
It seemed to me that the "universal basic income" destroyed the incentive to do most anything else. Most homes, at least those visible from the public roads, were described as "tar paper shacks". Alcoholism was rampant, at least as indicated by the public arrest records in the local paper. The town held the record of being the most crime riddled town in Minnesota.
Do we really want this for the entire US?
