I wondered, why would the NYT do a hit piece on Weinstein now after protecting him and his Hollywood ilk for all these years?

I think there are two possible answers. First, the NYT knew that something big (such as this audio) was going to come out soon and the NYT did not want to appear to be blindsided by this out-of-nowhere news.

Second, it has been reported the Weinstein and Speilberg are arch rivals. Is Steven pulling some strings behind the curtain to destroy Harvey?

Yes. This is curious isn’t it?
The NYPD had the recording, and no doubt there were plenty of cops willing to leak this, as they seem to have done. It may have been leaked two years ago.
This burns not just Weinstein but hordes of others, like Vance.
So, as you ask, why now?
Someone was behind this, and it is a coordinated attack.

From what I’ve read, a NYT reporter named Sharon Waxman had the big expose written and ready to run in 2004 but Weinstein put the pressure on and got all the sexual harassment stuff pulled out of the article. She quit and started “The Wrap” but the story was out there as were rumors that his brother was pushing it to get control of the company. Some other media outlets were planning to run with it (Page Six for one) and finally the NYT realized it would either have to get ahead of the story or end up explaining why it had been sitting on it for over a decade.

Now they’ll expect to get a pass but will they? Time will tell, but without a doubt the NYT has been as complicit as any other entity in covering up Weinsteins evil deeds for decades.

Speculation I read is that the hard left RATs are trying to purge the "moderate" RATS like Crooked Hillary, Pelosi, etc and Harvey is linked to these "moderates."
