When the Japanese were a worldwide economic superpower, conservatives were saying that the Japanese were still fighting WWII, but economically.
They wanted to dominate us and own us. Conservatives thought the government should stop the Japanese from buying companies and real estate in the US, like Rockefeller Center.
But it all amounted to nothing in the end, just like it will for the Chinese.
Yes, they have lots of money now, but they are hitting the wall. Their people have had a taste of the better life and want more, so they are consuming more.
Chinese exports are now being consumed by the Chinese people, so there is less exporting and the economic growth is slowing.
Our free markets (if we can keep them mostly free) will win in the end, as they always do. Yes, there might be some pain and rough roads, but that is the nature of competition.
Next will be India rising up on the world stage.
We are in a trade war now and we are losing thanks the the quislings in the USA.
Bad analogy, historically suspect.
