I know I’m going to show my ignorance broadly, but I thought the Blues Brothers were just for the movie. Which I loved. Were they a real group, as well?

Blues Brothers ... Were they a real group?

They started as a fun skit on Saturday Night Live - an overblown, over stereotyped blues band featuring the two "brothers." They really worked hard on it, though and made some good music, had some good dance moves. And it looked like a lot of fun. So apparently they decided to make the movie after Dan Akeroyd and John Belushi were gone from SNL and perhaps had more time.
