They made Leroy Jethro Gibbs turn into an old man and put on his medical ID bracelet last night

That bracelet was his character's deceased father's bracelet.

The storyline had them always fighting with each other. Gibbs puts the bracelet on as a way to connect with family after being a loner for so long, after declining to join the team at McGee' home.
