Feminists have led the backlash against Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner claiming he treated women like 'consumables.' Critics have called the magazine publisher, who has died aged 91 at his infamous $100million Beverly Hills mansion, a 'sleazeball who made millions from the objectification of women.' Award-winning film and TV writer Alex von Tunzelmann wrote on Twitter: 'Surely the sexual revolution had far more to do with readily available reliable contraception than porn? And Hefner didn't invent porn.

Abby Huntsman

I have to get my eyes checked. At first glance I read "Abbie Hoffman."

No, he treated men like suckers. He took their money, and gave it to women. And that’s actually why the feminists hate him.

I'm sure I accidently missed the articles condemning Hollywood red carpet awards walks where women compete to show as much skin as network TV can show. Or articles of the women subjecting themselves to this abuse.

And I obviously missed the meaning when MSM ran stories about which women "won" the ceremony. Not "won best actress/singer/..." But had the most spectacular/daring outfit and showed such bravery standing up to social norms.

But "these women" on the red carpet do it because they want to. Playboy women did it because men forced them.

I agree-he was a real world class prick-I realize many of those women who posed buck naked gladly let themselves be objectified-but Hefner took advantage of the women with room temperature IQs, too-so he was still a male chauvinist pig. And now I must also shower and do penance for the sin of agreeing with Feminazis-if my guy finds out I did that, I’ll be making sandwiches for him for months...

I agree he was disgusting. I never much followed reports about him. I do recall reading that he was greatly fond of Christmas, which seemed out of character.

"a 'sleazeball who made millions from the objectification of women.' "

Of course that's what he was. He was that for the past 60 years or so. The "Feminists" have just noticed? They are awfully slow. What a dull brained bunch of fools!

Maybe in 60 years or so they'll figure out Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Not only oppressed but terribly objectified as well.

That does not mitigate his guilt one whit. Why do you persist in defending this degenerate man who used and misused women his entire life?

are you saying the models did not make a choice to pose nude? of course they did.
They were not angels! I am not defending Hefner by saying these girls made a choice.

I read a book done by one of the “Girlfriends” who went on to be a lawyer.
Izabella St. James

The whole Mansion thing was creepy to the max.
I’m still not sure who was the chief offender here...
Hef, The Playboy Empire who let him get away with it or all the Gold Diggers who were using everyone.

The Mansion and funding to run it, the $$$ paid to the women (4k/month minumum) ...most of it came from The Playboy Empire.

You most certainly ARE defending Hefner by placing all the blame on the women. Not a word of condemnation for the shameless sexual predator who enriched himself at the expense of women. Well, he knows better now - for eternity!

She was to do an expose.

IIRC, there was a TV-movie starring Kirstie Alley who played Steinem.

And I bet they looked positively jubilant after their abortions.

It’s like that. First careless jiggy-bones and merry-tones. Then the realization of the utter futility of it all.
