What has still escaped notice is a photograph of him wearing a t-shirt with the logo of the Rote Armee Fraktion, otherwise known as the Baader-Meinhof Group, a terrorist network that killed US Army personnel with bombs on their bases in Germany in the 1970s.

I was there. Senior at FAHS. RAF set off bombs in Officers Club and entrance to V Corps HQ (IG Farben). We had MPs in full combat gear patrolling the high school the remainder of the school year.
