No that is what actually happened. At first I was angry at Jones, and then I read what actually happened. The team joined with Jones PRIOR TO ANTHEM, and kneeled together in protest to police brutality. Then later all stood for National Anthem w hand over heart. Jones said he would fire anyone who did not respect flag/anthem.
Our Constitution calls for peaceful protest, and as long as that does NOT insult Vets (I am one!) or the Flag, then why would we not allow that! It won’t change my mind that they are wrong, because I taught CJ at CC level and I know the statistics. I do respect Constitution though!
The kneeling down is an insult to the police!
Moreover, people don’t come to football games to see the player’s protest!
You’re not making any sales. The cowboys fired the 2nd bullet to the backs of their brains. Jerry Jones from arkansas just arkanicided the nfl.
“Our Constitution calls for peaceful protest, and as long as that does NOT insult Vets (I am one!) or the Flag, then why would we not allow that!”
There are other things NFL billionaire owners should not be doing in taxpayer funded stadiums. Such as promoting players who wear socks that compare police to pigs.
Police brutality? These NFL folks have a national spotlight once a week for sixteen weeks, and they're protesting police brutality?
Not to say there is absolutely *no* police brutality. But is it endemic? A pandemic? Are more US citizens (read: minorities, because that is what this is really all about anyway) affected by police brutality than by crime, poverty, drug abuse, failing public schools?
If they take a knee for any of the *real* scourges in our society, then maybe I'll give them a pass (pun!). But police brutality? You've got to be kidding!
Just for example, how many thousands of minorities have been gunned down in Chicago by black-on-black crime in recent years? Yet Rahm Emanuel and the ruling Democrats get a pass (pun!).
Police brutality? I'd dare say the minority citizens in Chicago would just love for some police brutality on the gang-banger thugs that scourge the Chicago streets.
All of which is to say, this is not really about police brutality. That is what they want *you* to think, so that you'll be supportive. Those *in the know* know that it is about something completely different.
