The problem isnt limited to San Diego County, which has the fourth-largest homeless population in the U.S.
Detroit, Salt Lake City, Santa Cruz, California, and areas of Colorado are also dealing with hepatitis A outbreaks.
The Los Angeles Acute Communicable Disease Control team told HuffPost that, while L.A. doesnt currently have an outbreak, officials are on the lookout.
And because of the way the disease spreads
all it takes is touching a door handle after a contagious person who hasnt washed their hands and then eating lunch, for example (Emphasis mine)
these outbreaks could spiral into an even larger public health crisis.

if its homeless residents had better access to housing and the city provided the services they need to stay healthyBosh. You can't make mentally-ill and drug-addicted people follow good health habits.

But San Diego could have avoided its hepatitis A crisis ... if its homeless residents had better access to housing
Oh, boo-frickin-hoo. That's' the Left's answer for all problems - let the gubmint provide everything from cradle to grave.

LIEberal made problem. LIEberal solution will, of course, require new taxes, new bureaucracy, and no real solution.

Tax-chick :" Bosh. You can't make mentally-ill and drug-addicted people follow good health habits. "
Agreed
Especially when you have drug-addicted who refuse housing because the housing centers don't allow drugs on premises.
Now you have to wary while commuting, and concerned about what you touch while in transit.

LETTING PEOPLE LIVE ON THE SREET AND DOING ALL THE THINGS LIFE MAKES NECESSARY. OUR CITIES ARE OPEN CESS POOLS. I SAW MY FIRST PILE OF STEAMING TURDS OUTSIDE A HOTEL ON BAY IN SF 15 YEARS AGO. now there is an app which where people report RTHE LOCATION OF feces in public.

Exactamente! Liberal Rino Mayor and liberal city council tell the cops to stop enforcing laws prohibiting camping on the sidewalks and crapping in the streets and we get a hepatitis epidemic. Duh!

Is it called :" No shite "?
To: Tilted Irish Kilt

You used to be able to lock them away in a medical facility for their own well being and that of society as a whole.

My solution is criminal justice with small mental health facilities.
Pass laws making things crimes that are not crimes. If a judge overrules impeach the judge. it takes time and patience to change the system,. If you do A 3 times or an A offense and two Bs, you’re in jail. 6 times prison. You need mental health facilities then we put you there. You don’t leave till you have a job or a place to stay in the community where people supervise you taking your meds.
Repeat offenders double down on the time. It may take ten years too have the beds and the laws in place. But if one city starts the people will move to a freer city and then their citizens will make the locals pass the same laws.
I live near SD downtown. We always consider the area paradise. Now it’;s just a crapper like every place else. We have homeless in oceanside and the cops are pretty good about knowing who’s here, but in the early morning some places are not so pretty.

Thank for the "heads up" on the app
Sounds like people in many localities and States could use it !

Prisons and jails are some of the very worst infectious environments we have. That’s where the latest strains of multiple antibiotic resistant tuberculosis were bred.
