It’s actually 53 man roster and 7 on the practice squad. All the 7 players do is practice with the team, but do not play in actual games. They are there in case someone gets hurt.
So it’s 32 teams times 60 players = 1,920 total NFL players

Do the 7 actually dress for the game? I thought they didn’t. If an active player gets injured, someone from the practice squad may dress the next week.
