The only one I have seen is 2001. I thought it was awful.
I had rather enjoy watching them than try to figure out what they are doing since very little of it is actually something which could really happen.
I think my favorite one was “Forbidden Planet” which had an interesting theme. Also the original “Invaders from Mars”.
I loved “Star Wars” then it began a long slide.

Robot Chicken's versions of Star Wars are the best things that have ever happened to the franchise. I defy anyone to watch the Emperor on the escalator bit, for example, and not bust a gut laughing.

IIRC, “Forbidden Planet” was loosely based on Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.”
