Henry Livingston's Music Manuscript contains multiple songs from Richard Sheridan's 1775 comic opera, "The Duenna." "Birks of Envermay" is played here both from the manuscript and then in full orchestration from an original score of "The Duenna."

I love this one! I've transcribed about 2/3 of the whole opera into Mozart, note by blessed note. Tedious but straightforward. The problem with these transcriptions is a non-musician correcting the handwritten mistakes in Henry's book using pattern recognition.

How oft Louisa hast thou said,
Nor wilt thou the fond boast disown,
Thou would’st not lose Antonio’s love
To reign the partner of a throne!
And by those lips which spoke so kind!
And by this hand I press’d to mine!
To be the lord of wealth and pow’r,
I swear I would not part with thine.

Then how, my dear, can we be poor,
Who own what kingdoms could not buy!
Of this true heart thou shalt be Queen,
And serving thee — a monarch I.
Thus uncontroul’d in mutual bliss
And rich in love’s exhaustless mine,
Do thou snatch treasures from my lips
And I’ll take kingdoms back from thine.

On “Smallville” there was a secret song called “The Birks of St. Kilda”. It sounded interesting until they played the tune.

It was nothing more than “Loch Lomond”. I guess they thought no one would notice.

When you say “secret song” do you mean some sort of extra on the DVD? And that is awful. If you did any work to find it, it sounds quite annoying. Do you think it was the original title and they were trying to look clever?

No, the lyrics held the secret to finding some object which held the secret to the mysteries of the Universe, until they actually find it and it just sends them to another clue and so on.

Lex Luther supposedly was taught the song as a kid.
