As copy after copy were hand-written...it was a common practice for copy-makers to add foot-notes (something that is rarely done in today’s world). So you’d have some copy-maker get a Greek translation of a particular Hebrew text. The objective of the copy-maker...was to take the translation, and move it over one more time....to Latin. The foot-notes allowed a copy-maker to explain why he chose this Latin-expression over another possibility. So this ordained topic might be where the translation simply didn’t fit with the original text.
