where cable companies were anticipating losing customers by 5% every year from now onMy father took us to football games at 'The Rockpile' to watch the Buffalo Bills. We'd find a place to park on a street, and he'd buy a six pack on the way. We'd find some burgers or hotdogs, or some BBQ guys would make on their front yard. Great times, and I doubt we spent $20 for a great day out. I spent over $800 to take 3 of my boys to game in Jacksonville 15 years ago.
The next generation will find football too expensive, and many will gravitate to the soccer most of them play.

That is a sad comparison you made. The average family has been priced out of large swaths of traditional American entertainment. A friend recently shared with me the cost of taking her family of four to DisneyWorld. I got momentarily lightheaded contemplating that amount of money. My folks took me when I was a kid eons ago, and that broke the budget (even though we drove there). Today we would have been the family that simply couldn't afford to go...ever.
