None of the more moderate democrats (manchin, etc) want to be the senator that overturns ACA as they will get primaried. Once its already overturned, there is very little risk of that occurring for further modifications. And even if they don’t, this bill is still the best one you are going to get until at least 2018 IF the Republicans pick up a LOT of seats next year.

I have heard that Trump will do EO to allow insurance across state lines in the next week or so. Evidently, he has this power based on the ACA. Anyone else heard this?

If this repeals the ACA then he'd need the power under this bill and it doesn't appear to be there. But I doubt it was part of the ACA to begin with.

I think you're dreaming on that. Manchin will run on the Medicaid cuts for West Virginia, the end of insurance premium subsidies, and the higher costs of premiums in general.

Well, right now there is 0 chance of them voting unless we do get 50 Republicans that vote yes on something. If we get a passed bill, there is a > 0% chance Democrats come to the table, which is higher than today. We can argue what % chance that is all night long.

There is so much bad news coming out these days about single payer that it may not happen. Also, to use the european example. The US government coming out with a single payer system is like the EU coming out with one. Their states are still sovereign in that area. Ours need to be as well.
