“I was in a crisis and looking for something to believe in hoping for some kind of serendipity to pull me out of it, DeRoche tells The Post.” So what! I have walked 6,000 miles the past few years without anxiety. Get a life snowflake—you are nothing special.
After five miles, she got really anxious about her aching feet.
I walk about 10-15km per night, so that puts me at roughly 5,592 miles over the last 2.5+ years I’ve been walking home from work. I never realized it adds up so fast. Pretty cool. And all that time I get to listen to my conservative podcasts and old time radio and heavy metal, as well as take photographs and drink beers, to keep me entertained. Doing long walks is really awesome. I can’t stand running or biking, but I could do 50km if I was determined. 20km is nothing. Walking is probably just fine for a healthy exercise too. I can’t stand to see those schlubs on the treadmills in the gyms I walk by - I want to scream at them to get the heck outside and enjoy the nature.
He called to check up on me the other day to see how I was doing. “You were right doc - I've done almost 200 miles and feel great - and NO stress. I'm in Des Moines already!”
Hat tip to Bob Hope or similar.
