Primers for military service are things like team sports, boy scouts, volunteering, wanting to help your fellow man.

Not asking the teacher for a pencil

Neither does the military. You take the same training, eat the same chow at the same time, dress in the same uniform, obey the same UCMJ and do as you are told, when you are told to do it. If you are different there are consequences.

Later on, individuality is allowed back in as specialized training fits one for the various job requirements. But kids who have been through that sameness adjust to military life more readily than those who have not.

I have not addressed the attitude towards military service spread by liberal “educators”, which will remove the concept of serving from many young people’s thinking.

Am I stupid? Maybe, but are you showing a tad of ignorance?
