I need some options to get rid of my Direct TV service.
And what, pray, do you do if your internet service from AT&T is abysmal and there is no cable?
I agree...getting rid of tv..and most insipid input has freed me time to pursue so many other good things...feels like i was released from media prison....
I no longer watch any tv. Zero
Have more time

Actually, I play more guitar, listen to Nationals games, work on my business I started last December, watch dvd’s....
How is your ooma service. My mother is 97 and can’t hear but insists on a phone. Currently using an internet phone via Frontier, but it is much more expensive than what you show.
Appreciate any info you can give on your real world experience
Ooma is as reliable as your Internet connection, and the sound/service quality is excellent. Never had a dropped call. You do have to purchase the Ooma box, which is $85.00ish on eBay or at Best Buy. Setup was a breeze
You can keep your current phone number too, though that takes coordination with your current phone provider and takes 3-8 business days, and there is a small fee associated with processing that, but I don’t recall exactly how much ($25-$40). Rather pay the fee than get a new phone number.
Your monthly fee depends on your local taxes and can be found at Ooma’s site. I pay $4.85 for unlimited local and U.S. long distance calls. There are additional charges for International calls.
I have had zero problems and am in my second year using Ooma’s service. Buy it, set it up, forget it!
