Tattoos on either sex are unsightly and give off that "low life" vibe that you describe. As for the military, tattoos are no longer a "thing." I was in the Marine Corps in the early 1980s and even then, we were discouraged from getting them.

People with visible tattoos that cannot be covered by clothing (face, neck, hands) scream to the world that they did a stretch in the jailhouse (whether they actually did or not). Most respectable companies just will not hire them.

In the years ahead, I think a big industry will be tattoo removal!

In an age when there is no tattoo taboo, I don’t see a movement to removal in the foreseeable future. Too many youngsters have too many tats. I’m with you, though (which means of a certain age, I imagine). Guys with earrings and girls with nose piercings and silver buttons on their faces are the marks of bizarre America.

That's right.....I worked for an Industry that if you interviewed with ‘any’ tats visible it was an immediate rejection from being considered no matter what your qualifications. On the other hand , in retail and restaurant industries you see them all the time!
