Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military?

Yoo hoo, Mr. President.

I do.

I want them out of our society the same way I want bank robbers who are educated and/or served in the military OUT.

It’s not just the current 800,000 and their families. It’s a permanent thing, so millions more can claim to qualify without proof in the years to come. Tax paying, law abiding citizens might as well band together, invade Mexico, eradicate the cartels, exile their politicians and corrupt law enforcement to the U.S.. Start a Mexican revolution, institute a constitution like the one we used for awhile, educate the people and enforce law and order. Anyone that doesn’t like it can go to the U.S., or New Mexico as it will be called. And build a wall on the northern and southern borders.

SO, it looks like we are all on the same page here. We need to start a club. :)

I supported Trump wholeheartedly. In fact, he was the first (and so far only) political candidate I ever sent money to. I voted for MAGA and my idea of MAGA was that Trump, with the help of a GOP congress, could roll back decades of liberal regulation that has hobbled the U.S. economy. The little nickel and dime bureaucratic hoops to jump through that have built up over time resulting in an exodus of U.S. manufacturing. The petty little laws that Americans have to comply with, that do nothing but make our lives a little more miserable only to generate "make work" jobs for an increasing number government employees to ensure they're complied with.

Yes, I'd like to see illegal immigrants go homes well but there are certain realities in life and mass deportations of tens of millions just aren't going to happen. A multi-billion dollar wall isn't going to happen. Voluntary deportation is a realistic goal and we can do this just by making America an uncomfortable place to be an illegal immigrant.

This being said, "Build The Wall!" was a cornerstone of Trump's campaign and while I don't care if he ever builds one or not, I'm not blind to the damage that completely abdicating this promise would do to a large element of his base.

Frankly, we get a heck of a lot more illegals from the middle east, and east than from Mexico.

************

Hard numbers showing reality aren’t that easy to find. But I agree any search on
“visa overstays” will get anyone info the topic. I’m not sure the gov’t has
been actually trying that hard to find/remove the visa overstays. But in the last
couple of years data is becoming available and I think people are beginning to
realize the southern border crossing isn’t the only big number of illegals in the USA.

I’m in agreement with your assessment of the situation, howeer, I wish more of us had been winking back at him when he said he was going to build a wall. ;)

And I think I was using hyperbole regarding illegals from other means than the border. It may be our worst point of entry, but the overt focus on it would be a mistake.

Frankly, if we just employed the means we already have in place to control that border, the number of crossings would be substantially lower.

And even a wall won’t keep them all out. We have a lot of coastline, and people can and do tunnel.

We have been betrayed so often it is a matter of course that we would be upset with what the opposition media reported on Chuck & Nancy’s meeting with Trump!

Repairing existing fence is NOT a border wall.

Many of us on both sides of the political spectrum want a border wall similar to what Israel has!

I would rather donate towards the cost of the wall, than to donate any money to GOPe reelections!!

Set up a special account President Trump! Let’s take the air out of reelection wet dreams of the never-Trumpers!

And let that American education go with them to help rebuild their own countries.

You are so ignorant has to be pathetic and embarrassing. I am already a long time paying member of FR. Suggesting otherwise out of ignorance, does that make you happy, does that help further your argument? People like you are what ruin FR. Instead of participating in meaningful discussion, you would rather insult, bully, and try to shut down discussion. Why don’t you join the Democrats, or Antifa, which seems to be more appropriate for you.

>>>but there are certain realities in life and mass deportations of tens of millions just aren't going to happen.

That is what some here have been trying to say for two years...it's NOT going to happen. It's just not.

Of course, the simple solution is so simple it's hard: Make employing illegals so costly that nobody from Wal-Mart to a single mom in New Hampshire would dare do it. Then make the process for coming back over to work legally a lot better. They would self-deport...tax revenue would increase...it would work.

But the chamber of commerce will have none of that...so it will never happen.
