Have we had anything recently that compares to the New Madrid Earthquake, the Johnstown Flood, or Krakatoa?

People are pretending that somehow our natural disasters today are worse than ever, when in fact, it’s not even close.

There was a huge earthquake in Alaska a few decades ago, also in Chile, the one that killed so many people in South East Asia a decade ago, not to mention the one in Japan where we saw the effects of a giant tsunami. Pinatubo was as big as Krakatoa, but not in the middle of a heavily traveled strait and next to an embayment that funneled the tsunami to great heights as also happened in the Alaska quake.

Google giant earthquakes for each of those areas. I would, but must get some sleep.
