Mark Levin, aka "The Great One", is the scheduled guest on the repeat of C-Span2's "After Words" tonight at 9:00 EDT. Interviewed by Jim DeMint, Levin talks about his writings including his latest book, Rediscovering Americanism: and the Tyranny of Progressivism, his conservative philosophy and his work in radio. The program is an hour long. Also a repeat at midnight from this afternoon, Eric Metaxas is this month's guest on "In-Depth", the three hour session that allows him to discuss his books and work and to answer viewers' questions and comments. He starts with a look at what he calls the "Golden Triangle of Freedom" - freedom depends on virtue, virtue depends on faith of some sort, and faith depends on freedom - which he thinks guided those who fought for our independence and wrote the Constitution. Metaxas might best be called an eclectic intellectual, and after talking about his latest book If You Can Keep It goes on to deal with topics ranging from Dietrich Bonhoefer and the Nazis to Chuck Colson and Watergate to Muhammad Ali and Vietnam to Christianity and the federal government. He also deals with viewer call-ins from the astute to the angry and accusatory to one so obscure neither he nor the host can understand what it's about. As usual, an entertaining three hours.
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
I don’t have cable but the BOOK TV shows are available on demand. I’m listening to Mataxis (who spoke at my church last year) right now. I am reading thru his Bonhoffer book right now. I think I’m going to check out Colson’s book on Knowing God.
I will not watch Levin - not worth my time.
Metaxas is an interesting guy - he came across as sort of scattered to me at first, but after listening for a bit I got the impression that he’s really pretty knowledgeable and quite thoughtful, and had some real insights into issues such as emotionalism’s effect in government and the need for some sort of religious basis for government.....
