Not quite, but it’s in the same neighborhood. It’s one thing for a police officer to make a joke about blacks. That’s bad enough.

But to make a joke about killing blacks...over the line. Worthy of dismissal. This guy is a cop, a man with a gun. He’s not the county clerk.

So either he’s a racist (very unlikely), or he does not have good judgement. Either way, best to find another line of work.

By the way, the word “blacks” is actually not the key word here. I’m of Hungarian descent. If a local cop had made a joke about Hungarian-Americans, I might be offended (especially if the joke was not funny).

But if that cop had made a joke about killing Hungarian-Americans, yep, I’d be at the next council meeting asking for his badge. I wouldn’t be able to trust him to be impartial when dealing with me or my family.
