I forgot about potential felony murder charges. Guess it depends on whether shoplifting a TV is a felony (theft) or misdemeanor (conversion) in S.C. - probably a felony.

I just looked it up. For a first offense, it would have to be > $10K, so it would probably be a misdemeanor.
