The William Golding novel is being adapted once again, this time by a male writing-directing duo. Warner Bros. is planning a gender-bent adaptation of the iconic William Golding novel Lord of the Flies.
Scott McGehee and David Siegel will write and direct the new take on the story, which follows a group of young boarding school students that end up stranded on an island and devolve into pre-pubescent savages over the course of the novel. Harry Hook directed a 1990 version of the story, while a 1963 feature was helmed by Peter Brook.

And I can think of many other, much worse books, that kids have been made to read in school, at every level, than this one!
It's a GREAT book and I don't say that lightly. You should try reading it now...you might change your mind.
The book is a cautionary tale and has less than NOTHING whatsoever to do with "Liberals", what they want to turn society into ( though they have done, re the black communities ), nor is it anything at all to do with some futuristic dystopian world in the future, or today.
Funnily enough, your post was an eyeopener! It shouldn’t have been, but it was. And such clarity of thought, such undeniable logic, was/is a joy to read; especially since it was a rare jewel, set amongst some of THE damnedest puerile drivel, it has been my misfortune to read here, throughout my almost 20 year stretch here.

Most of the boys, in LOTF are not all that old, as boys in Cathedral Choir private schools are of little use when their voices change. So to make a version that is all girls/mixed ( which would be an even worse idea! ), would preclude that.
How about Fiddler on the Roof set in Ireland with an Irish cast; almost nothing, plot wise, would have to be changed.

I have read some hopeful articles lately about the generation graduating high school now but they are going to colleges dominated by Leftist. I have to wonder, will their spirits be strong enough to maintain their good sense through to the end.

I too have seen some of those articles and I hope that they're true.
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to see that old pendulum swing back, yet every time I think that things can't get worse....it does. Have we reached bottom yet? Perhaps not, but a lot of people do seem to have woken up lately.
It seems to me that with the ANTI-FA crowd the Left has reached the bottom and kept right on digging.
