Burning Man burned out over a decade ago for anyone who is actually cool and avant garde. It’s running on (very wealthy) fumes now, with forty-and-fifty-something corporate execs trying to look cool but are very vague on the original concept. They’ve turned it into glamping plus hedonism. Originally, it was a total free-for-all, anything goes, a giant island of misfit toys in the middle of the desert doing their thing, whatever that might have been.
Think politicians belatedly jumping on Twitter thinking they’re cool, just as the people who made it cool are abandoning it. Passe, but the bigheads just don’t know it yet.
Actually it has more to do with Dan Love’s hair, but I get your drift LOL.
Think of it as a geriatric Woodstock. Whole lotta saggin goin on.

Which means half are under 34

They can use it, however, to get away with sleeping with wanna-be models and having random sex and using drugs, all of which is readily available for sale, despite the “no commerce” claim.
I’m a bit younger than you, missed the 70’s outdoor rock festivals since I was still a kid, but my ran all the way to the late 90’s and outdoor mega-rave gatherings, I know/knew people who went to Burning Man early on. It’s definite skewed older and more corporate over the years, and that includes the women, although any outdoor event like this is going to be younger in general. It’s gotten regimented, controlled and rather staged, as well as costly. The funky DIY aspect has faded, in favor of expensive spectacles put on by people trying to outdo one another from one year to the next. PC has invaded big time, with lesbians in particular having segregated themselves, which would be fine by me as most of them are unhappy, unattractive women but it violates the spirit of the whole thing. It’ll keep rolling on, don’t get me wrong, but it isn’t what it’s purported to be and hasn’t been for a while now.
