Word For The Day, Tuesday August 29, 2017
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
verisimilar [ver-uh-sim-uh-ler]
-adj
having the appearance of truth; likely; probable
[1675-85; < Latin vērīsimil(is) (vērī, genitive singular of vērum truth, + similis like) + -ar1]
Not “very similar.”
The Clintons mastered lies, verisimilar
Who’s more mendacious; is it him or her?
“No sex with that female”
“Nothing wrong with my email”
One is a creep and one’s a swindler

So nice, I posted twice. Sorry. Tablet is glitchy today.
CNN and The New York Times,
Try to cover Clinton’s Crimes
To the left they are verisimilar to Truth.
MSNBC and the Washington Post,
Are soon to find out they are toast,
When their lies are exposed even to the uncouth.
Oh poo! I’d say it’s not verysimilar, but you said it’s not verysimilar, so now I can’t say it’s not verysimilar third (fourth, and fifth times!) But it still looks verysimilar to me!
You’ve probably seen it as versimilitude, something resembling the truth. Lately we call it truthiness.
If, as the poet has said, beauty is truth, and truth beauty, then verisimilitude is something that comes from the uncanny valley.

Libs present their views
as if verisimilar,
while they know they're wrong.
