In the Probable Cause description of what the perp did, here is some of the narrative from the form:
"ON 08/22/2017...... ANNOUNCEMENTS WERE MADE TO WARN A LARGE GROUP OF PROTESTERS TO DISASSEMBLE AND TO LAWFULLY LEAVE THE AREA. THE DEFENDANT WAS SEEN RUNNING BACK AND FORTH IN FRONT OF THE POLICE LINE OF OFFICERS, DISRUPTING THE CROWD AND BEING GENERALLY UNRULY AND CLEARLY REFUSING TO DISPERSE AND REFUSING TO DO SO IN AN UNLAWFUL MANNER. THE DEFENDANT WAS ASSEMBLING WITH TWO OR MORE OTHER PERSONS AND ENGAGING IN CONDUCT CONSTITUTING A RIOT AND KNOWINGLY REMAINING THERE AND REFUSING TO OBEY THE NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF OFFICIAL ORDERS TO DISPERSE, THUS MEETING THE ELEMENTS OF AN UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY ACCORDING TO ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES. AT 2036 HOURS SECURITY CAMERA TIME STAMP IN FRONT OF 222 E MONROE, THE DEFENDANT WHO WAS WEARING A GAS MASK KICKED A SMOKING CANISTER TOWARD FULLY UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS. AFTER KICKING IT UNSUCCESSFULLY, THE DEFENDANT PICKED UP THE SMOKING CANISTER, AND THREW IT TOWARD THE LINE OF FULLY UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS. AT THE SAME TIME STAMP ON THE VIDEO FOOTAGE, THE DEFENDANT THREW A SECOND SMOKING CANISTER AT FULLY UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS. LATER, AFTER RUNNING IN FRONT OF THE CROWD THAT WAS MOVING BACKWARD, THE DEFENDANT WAS SEEN KICKING A CANISTER AT UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS. AT THIS POINT, OFFICERS DEPLOYED AN IMPACT OC ROUND TO STOP THE DEFENDANTS CONTINUED ASSAULT ON THEM. THE THREE DESCRIBED INCIDENTS OF THROWING THE SMOKING CANISTER, MEET THE ELEMENTS OF COMMITTING AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AGAINST POLICE OFFICERS, ACCORDING TO ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES. OVER THE LAST TWENTY FOUR HOURS SINCE THE INCIDENT, THE DEFENDANT HAS USED SEVERAL MEDIA AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS TO ADMIT HIS INVOLVEMENT IN REFUSING TO LEAVE THE AREA, KNOWINGLY THROWING CANISTERS AT POLICE OFFICERS AND POSTED PHOTOGRAPHS OF HIS INJURIES."
...........So, three counts of class three aggravated assault, a lot more serious than a class 5 or 6. He's in a lot more in trouble than he thinks he is. I've been scanning the local news to see if GoDaddy has fired him yet, don't see anything.

I’d have been more indelicate when writing the report. It would have gone something like this...
After getting more than just a little pi$$ed at the suspect’s continued a$$holish behavior, Officer Jones was instructed to use his pepper ball gun and to aim it at a sensitive area of the suspect’s body. Suspect was shot in the crotch, fell to the ground and then crawled/limped away.
The officers in riot control formation all laughed and complimented Office Jones on his excellent shooting.
