If the studios are in such bad shape that a few theaters in southern Texas and Louisiana are the make-or-break element of their profit, then the story is bigger than those few theaters. There are 48 other states that aren’t experiencing a hurricane right now, and most of them are more urbanized than the relatively-sparse Texas coast i.e. with more movie-goers. Not to mention north Texas which isn’t feeling any of the storm. Dallas today is mid-70s and showery (no wind), which is perfect movie weather. No one heads to Padre Island to watch movies indoors.
I pass our multi plex one several times a week, few cars there during peak viewing times.
Try putting on something people will watch. You BOTCHED the TARZAN movie BIG TIME. First time I’d been to an actual movie since the last release of a Star Wars Movie.
