They all have Serial Numbers. Might even have a decal on it from some construction company, or SC DOT. They can trace it IF they WANT to.

You don’t just misplace a bull dozer. The things are pretty easy to start up without a key. Especially the older ones. Firing one up and running it around is pretty easy but loading it up, hauling it off and hiding it is not. You can haul one around for a bit pretty easy since the description is pretty generic. “Be on the lookout for a yellow Caterpillar D-6C last seen on a lowboy.”

Our Sheriff was out one day with a drone searching the woods and isolated fields for a stolen bull dozer he was pretty sure was stashed within about a mile radius. Couldn’t see it. Hidden well or not there.
