Your comment makes me think (if it is any relevant) of how a book apparently written by someone from the Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Rights group compared the 1938 Nazi Germany gun control law with the 1968 US Gun Control Act that the LBJ administration created and passed and found that some passages of the 1968 American law looked to be exactly lifted from the 1938 one. I’ve always wanted to add that book to my personal library.

We should never be surprised when totalitarianism takes on different clothing in an attempt to disguise its goals. The Constitution was not written for the purpose of balancing left and right. Those terms didn’t mean anything then. It was written to balance anarchy and statism. Unfortunately, the Dems began swinging the pendulum to the statism end of the scale with the Wilson regime. From time to time, the Republicans would nudge it back the other way a bit, but never to any great degree, until now when both parties are obsessed with the concept of controlling the public for their own ends.
