Load it with name brand ammo and it’s a great rifle, just keep it within it’s limit’s. With ball ammo it almost tickles 1000 ft-lbs of energy. Feed it hollow point rounds and it’s quite deadly, again keep it within it’s means. Good for home defense and small game. I have a couple of carbines and two pistols chambered in that round, both Ruger Blackhawk old models with 7 1/2 inch barrels. I would caution anybody shooting this through a pistol, definitely wear hearing protection, they are loud. They will shoot about a 3 ft flame out the end with factory rounds. I carry one in the truck when on the ranch and have taken a ton of coyotes, Javalina’s and even a few feral hog’s. If you reload you can get some amazing performace with the lighter bullets. I’ve crono’d 85 grain HP’s at almost 2000 fps through the 7 1/2 inch barrels.Very flat shooting for a pistol and still carry around 700 ft-lbs at 100 yards. Plus I have to add they’re just a fun rifle to have. Enjoy!
