The M-1 Carbine doesn’t have much of a reputation for stopping bad guys. Much of that rep is not the fault of the gun, but the ammunition. The brands listed are most often found in the FMJ or military ball configuration and are fine for having fun plinking. However, if you think you might use the weapon for defensive purposes, I’d suggest semi-jacketed hollow points as a better choice. Corbon also makes a great defensive round for it.

I never thought of Cor-Bon so thanks for that tip. I know that many are skeptical about the rounds merit as a manstopper, but I have other platforms that are well proven. I always thought the carbine was a trick rifle and simply wanted one. I look at the round as basically a double charged 9mm. I wouldn’t want to be the gelatin block for one regardless.

Get you some 110 grain lead hollow points, it is a vicious and highly effective round for self-defense.
