Actually this whole revulsion thing over eating insects is culture-based. There are some cultures that would be sickened by the thought of eating a lobster (which itself sort of looks like a giant cockroach), yet we treat it as a delicacy.
My grandmother used to call seafood like clams, shrimp and scallops "bottom feeders" and was disgusted that I would put such dirty creatures into my belly. But I love my clams, shrimp and scallops!
I too am sickened by the thought of eating insects but I'm thinking I could learn to like them if I put my mind to it. If prepared properly, they could actually be quite tasty.
