What if they were able to dig up a few of the East German women who were on the Olympic teams of the 1970s and early ‘80s and were likely on regular diets of steroids. I remember as a kid watching them on TV and even noticing at my young age then that they looked like men. I wonder what kind of sex lives those women had back then, eh?

What these sort of articles conveniently ignore is that in those socialist countries, before any investment into education past primary education, strict testing was implemented, and only the "cream of the crop" actually got those investments, and what the parents or children wanted really had little or no consideration into the direction that child would have later in life. Of course, that wasn't the case for the politically protected, but there was no such thing as "taking a year off of school to find yourself."
Sort of like how the NY Slimes ignored Stalin's brutal repression and starvation of the Ukraine while promoting what a great place it was.

The socialist state met their basic needs and countries such as Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and East Germany committed extra resources to support single mothers, divorcées and widows. …The state spoon-feeding you your “basic needs” is not self-sufficiency.
