They hated Star Wars, too. I don’t let others tell me which movies are good. They are rarely correct.
I loved Idiocracy, but it was a look into the mirror so it got terrible reviews by everyone in the movie industry.
For me it’s a mixed bag. I remember that when Siskel and Ebert were split on a film, if Ebert was the one that liked it, it meant I didn’t need to bother.
I use rotten tomatoes a lot. You sort of get a “feel” for the truthiness of the reviews to the point where it can be somewhat trusted. Based on the negative reviews and the details behind those negative reviews, my take is that this is probably a pretty bad movie.
I’m still gonna rent it though. I’ll try to remember to give my personal take after I see it.
