Every deployed system is “obsolete”. OF COURSE, but NASA has drug it's feet for so long it is more than apparent that it has been "milking" The Webb Telescope. It is "now" scheduled to launch in 2018, but if the Lockheed invention proves to be a big breakthrough, then the costs of The Webb Telescope will be hard to justify.
