uncovering evidence then the next best thing is to get
himself fired which will trigger a big backlash against
Trump in the estimation of many.

One would think that the law specifies from where grand jurors slated to sit in a particular city would come.Hard to imagine that *not* being the case...although,not being a lawyer myself,I could be wrong.
Try asking for a change of venue in a kangaroo court. Kinda defeats the point of having a show trial.
Especially when OJ tried it on and said while facing the jury "doesn't fit" . The prosecution should have immediately stood up and demand that OJ take the stand since, by testifying to the jury, he waived his 5th Amendment right. Of course Ito would probably rule against them, but they could have immediately appealed his ruling.

Even subtracting all convicted felons from the jury pool, the chances of drawing any jury that reflects the composition of the remainder of the United States from DC area residents is effectively zero.

Grand jury does not try the case. They only indict and every prosecutor in the US gets their indictment if they bring something before a grand jury. By law, no potus will be tried in a court of law while president.
People with criminal records can't serve. That eliminates a lot of the usual suspects in DC. Then there are those struck by the attorneys for tactical reasons, which will vary from case to case. I was on a petit jury, not a grand jury; how much latitude does a prosecutor have in picking specific jurors on a grand jury, given that there is no opposing attorney to balance the cherry picking?
DC does vote over 90 percent Democrat but ethnically we're now under 50 percent black with whites a close second, roughly 47 percent to 44 percent. A lot of people probably have a false impression of what a DC jury is likely to look like.
Because the pool is drawn from DC. Try this, stick your hand in a bucket of poo into which a spoonful of tapioca has also been added. Now pull your hand out. What color is it? Does it smell? That's a DC jury.
